I DIDN’T STUMBLE INTO THIS CRAFT- I CHASED IT

I CAN’T WAIT TO WELCOME YOU INTO THE STUDIO AND MAKE SOMETHING INCREDIBLE.

WITH LOVE- KATAN

In 2011, after being turned away more than once, I convinced a nearly century-old hat company in Texas to take a chance on me. There, I apprenticed under master hat makers, learning traditional techniques that had been passed down for generations. That experience also introduced me to leather working and I quickly fell in love with a material that would become central to my work.

By 2013, I was making my own hats while traveling the country, selling my work and curated vintage clothing from a converted bus. Those years taught me to trust craftsmanship over trends and to build a life around making things by hand.

After stepping away from the craft for several years, I returned in 2018 with a renewed sense of purpose. I focused on leatherwork while slowly building the tools and equipment to create independently. By 2019, I was producing full collections of hats, leather goods and one-of-a-kind pieces.

Since moving to Brooklyn in 2021, the city's creativity, diversity and energy have continued to shape my work, blending traditional craftsmanship with a contemporary perspective. That evolution led to the creation of Further Studios — a place where craftsmanship, beautiful materials and thoughtful design come together.

FURTHER STUDIOS NYC

After more than a decade immersed in this craft, I've come to believe that making beautiful objects is only part of the story. The most meaningful part is sharing these skills and helping others discover the satisfaction of creating something with their own hands.
